Downtown Denver Expeditionary School (DDES) is a K-5 public charter school
and the only public elementary school located in downtown Denver. Using the city as their campus, they leverage its rich urban resources to achieve academic and personal excellence and become responsible citizens. Students at DDES explore, discover and grow through hands-on, real-world experiences.
DDES: Our City, Our Shirt
Downtown Denver Expeditionary School (DDES) reached out to Tiny Planet Ink about providing spirit wear and other merchandise for their back to school campaign in the Fall. Our support includes building and opening an online retail store for parents, faculty, and alumni to purchase DDES gear.
The Brand
Inspired by the Denver skyline and the iconic Blue Bear, the school requested incorporating local landmarks into this year's shirt design. The detailed line art features sites like the Platte River and Cheesman Memorial Pavilion, rendered in a blue and white Pantone palette that evokes the state's sky and snowy peaks. This coupling of Denver landmarks and colors creates a powerful visual representation for the Downtown Denver Expeditionary School.
Mockups & Online Store
Once garments are sourced and sizing is confirmed, I create a detailed mockup for client sign-off. After approval, I prepare the artwork for the automatic press, including color separation in Adobe Illustrator. From there, I move to the darkroom and burn the image onto a silk screen mesh.
