Ink & Ore: Crafting The Argo Mill Merchandise

We're proud to share that Tiny Planet Ink is the primary decorator for The Argo Mill and Tunnel. We've focused on supplying their museum store with merchandise and have broadened their selection to include items like embroidered hats and patches. Currently, we're collaborating with The ARGO Mill on a brand redesign and developing exciting new merchandise for The Mighty Argo Cable Car, scheduled to open in 2026.

The Brand

At the core of Argo's brand is its masterbrand, featuring the name and "1893." This visual asset is applied across the ARGO Mill and Tunnel experience, highlighting its unique role as a heritage and recreation destination with local, regional, and national significance.

The Argo badge is a secondary design used most prominently on merchandise. The circular logo provides greater functionality and helps reinforce strong brand recognition.

Color Palette

The Argo Mill's primary color palette further strengthens its brand, drawing inspiration from both the surrounding area and the Gold Mill and Tunnel experience. PMS Black 7C and white serve as the foundational colors, with a mill-inspired red and two shades of grey acting as primary accent colors.

Shirts & Caps

The Comfort Colors 6014 heavyweight long-sleeve shirt and the OTTO Cap 6 Panel Dad Hat (18-202) were selected for their exceptional comfort and cohesion with the brand's color palette. The Comfort Colors brand, with its 100% cotton blend, is particularly popular with younger audience, while the timeless appeal of the OTTO Cap dad hat complements the brand's overall aesthetic.

Mockups & Press Check

Once garments are sourced and sizing is confirmed, I create a detailed mockup for client sign-off. After approval, I prepare the artwork for the automatic press, including color separation in Adobe Illustrator. From there, I move to the darkroom and burn the image onto a silk screen mesh. Once I hand-off the screens to our printer, I move into embroidering the caps.
